I hardly get paid for films: Minissha

In her six-year-long career, Minissha Lamba has done 12 films out of which only three did well at the box office, including Corporate, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Well Done Abba while the rest bombed. However, the 26-year-old is still striving hard to make it big in Bollywood. She ventured into comedy with her last release Bheja Fry 2 and is hopeful about her forthcoming films — Hum Tum Aur Shabana and Zilla Ghaziabad.
An outsider in the industry
Outsiders don’t get a second chance in Bollywood so, for someone like me, it’s very important to choose the right films. Two-three wrong decisions and you are out. Nobody will gamble his money on you.
Those 16 hours of detention
I got quite bugged at one point as I was sleep deprived for 48 hours. Then I decided to fry their bhejas and told them, if I m staying this long you too are not going home. They have not yet returned my belongings.
Not making it big
There are some films I missed out on as I was not brave enough to do those roles. In hindsight, I wish I had the balls to go for them. I regret for not believing in my instincts.
On doing comedy
The burden of performing comedy is generally on the male actors as there are certain jokes, which suits male actors. There are jokes jo aurat ko shobha nahi dete.
Getting it right
You either have a comic timing or you don’t; you can learn or imitate or rehearse it. Paresh Rawal is someone whose comedy I immensely enjoy.
Money vs Role
Money is the last criterion that is on my mind before signing a film. I don’t do films for money as I hardly get paid. My role matters the most.
